South Carolina Banker Appointed Vice Chair of ABA Emerging Leaders Council

Olanta, SC – Margi M. Fleming, SVP & Chief Administrative Officer of The Citizens Bank in Florence, SC, has been appointed Vice Chair of the American Bankers Association's Emerging Leaders Council for the 2026-2027 association year.

The Council is focused on identifying, connecting, developing, and engaging the current and next generation of bankers to lead our industry, guiding ABA in the creation of new opportunities in leadership development, networking, advocacy, financial literacy, and industry promotion. It is led by four ABA-appointed officers – Chair, Chair-Elect, Vice Chair, and Immediate Past Chair – each serving a one-year term as part of a continuous leadership pipeline that builds perspective, continuity and confidence over time.
The vice chair year is primarily a time for learning, providing feedback, and gaining a broad understanding of the Council's work and ABA more generally. As vice chair, Fleming will participate in Emerging Leaders programming and Council meetings throughout the year, developing deeper insight into ABA's emerging leader initiatives and helping identify areas where the council's work could be strengthened, refined, or have greater impact. The vice chair also serves as an advisor and liaison to fellow council members and assists the chair and chair-elect with other duties as needed.

Fleming has been with The Citizens Bank since 2006 and currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer, providing executive leadership for human resources, marketing, facilities, and strategic initiatives. Throughout her career, she has been an advocate for leadership development, employee engagement, financial education, and strengthening community banking.
